What’s Trending at FFANY: Rodeo Drive

The latest trend at FFANY proved that Kanye West isn’t the only West worthy of attention in the footwear industry. Spurred by the long-awaited return of fashion denim and the high-end Western get-ups designers like Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui and Rodarte featured in their recent runway shows, exhibitors at FFANY spotlighted boots and shoes with twangs of classic cowboy style.

The Western trend for Fall ’17 runs the gamut, from booties on cowboy boot lasts and traditional stitching, to harness details, antique studs and distressed nail heads.

Restricted and Eric Michaels took a youthful approach to the trend with boots emblazoned with star motifs, while other labels dabbled with crystals and rhinestones for a glam cowgirl vibe.

For consumers with more subdued tastes, brands incorporated handcrafted details like leather braiding, cord and fringe. Suede in shades of camel, gray and olive green softened the traditional look.
